Horsely Hills: A serene trek
A serene trek to Horsely Hills.
That is my final year in college and all of our friends were discussing "Man, we have never been to any place in these 4 years". I too felt the same. It was like all alone in the University but no where outside it. We felt like it is the same kind of idea which we are going to cancel again just like all the aspirational trips we plan before holidays and then be like, nah! man, I am not available. But this time, we were serious. We were like who the hell doesn't want to go on a trip to forests and hills. Initially, there was a huge talk on where to go, how to go, and all. But later, we figured out that with some connections, we can get a nice boarding/ lodging at Horsely Hills. We then started to research the routes to go to the place and check what all are there to do.
We now have decided that there won't be any lodging and tour expenses as we have our connection. We just need to however figure out the way to reach there. There comes the major thing. This Horsely Hills is located 120 KM away from both Tirupathi and Bangalore. Okay, then how shall we reach there? We then thought of travelling by train. All the trains we saw were either not available on the day or were full. So, we thought of going via Vande Bharat from Hyderabad to Tirupathi and then from Tirupathi to Horsely Hills by car. The train journey was my first time. Thought I have travelled in metro trains, this is no where near that. The train was costly. It cost us around Rs. 2000/- per head. I thought this was a great deal. One of my friends was like, "It is a good deal since we are not thinking about the boarding or food expenses. Hence this is fine. Else, no one would keep that amount for travel". I did not bother for the same, because, this is my first time. We booked the tickets and then booked the lodge too... We had rooms in cottages.
I live in Wanaparthy and the travel to Hyderabad is around 4 hours. Me and a friend of mine came to Hyderabad by bus and reached the railway station by 12:00 AM and had to wait for the train which is at 6:00 AM. I have had enough of sitting in that shitty room of renovating railway station. It was one of my bad experiences. Already a friend of mine was there waiting for us. After keeping our luggage at the waiting room, we have left to see the station. This is my first time in a railway station. So, I was too excited to see the station. Me and Likhith have gone to every nook and corner of the station. There were many platforms empty and some were too busy. I wanted to stay at a place which was empty as I was able to sit and roam wherever I wished. I have seen many trains going to North India, which were of utter chaos.
